Magic garden

The museum’s magic garden opens on 5 July 2024

Stevns Folklore Museum is proud to present the Magic Garden – a unique project supported by the Nordea Fund with 300,000 DKK. The garden is created to offer a magical experience for everyone in Store Heddinge. The official opening will take place on July 5th from 11:00 to 14:00, which also marks the museum’s 3rd anniversary.

About the Magic Garden

The Magic Garden is the result of a collaboration with Charlotte Mannstædt and Annette Nielsen, who have added magical storytelling elements such as a hut and a storytelling circle. The garden transforms the museum’s small backyard into a lush green oasis in the heart of Store Heddinge. Visitors can enjoy a koi pond, grassy hills, roses, paths, huts, plants, and a cozy terrace.

The garden is created as a place for meditation and reflection, while also providing the town’s children with an opportunity to play, invent stories, and enjoy nature. Great emphasis has been placed on the use of recycled materials as well as environmentally friendly, robust, and durable materials in the construction work.

5 Fantastic Fridays

Five Fantastic Fridays at the Stevns Folklore Museum!

28 June, 5 July, 12 July, 19 July and 26 July 2024

14:00 – 15:30

You will hear fairy tales, tall tales, myths, and legends, some of which are self-composed, while others are interpretations of works by HC Andersen, Grimm, and Norse mythology. There are stories about Loki’s children, Strawberry-Christian, the Elf King’s Jewel, the Captain of Gønge, Lucky – the lucky survivor, among others, as well as a few magical elements. On 26 July the stories will be told in English and German.

At Cafe Bliss, located 100 meters from the Folklore Museum, you can get a 10% discount before or after the event on the same day by showing a valid ticket for the day’s event. This offers a delightful experience for the family with food, drinks, and great stories.

Kalkcirklen is the storytelling circle of Kalklandet. We live and breathe for the good oral storytelling. We are professionals and continuously work on developing our expression and form through feedback and courses. We all have long careers behind us as storytellers, communicators, magicians, children’s book authors, artists, and circus directors. In other words, we are a diverse group that knows what entertainment with a message is all about.
