Winter school holidays

WINTER HOLIDAYS
Stevns Folklore Museum is open during the winter school holidays and there is something to experience both for adults and for children.

Dive into a world of folklore, creativity, and interactive exhibitions this winter break at Stevns Folklore Museum! Experience fun activities for the whole family: arts and crafts, a magical Klintekongen mosaic, the opportunity to dress up in costumes every day, and last but not least, be enchanted by folk tales from Stevns through our live storytelling. 🧵👑

Explore our interactive exhibitions, each telling a unique story about the rich cultural heritage of Stevns. And don’t forget to check out the new additions in the museum shop, there’s something for everyone!

Autumn vacation at Stevns Folklore Museum!

The autumn holidays are upon us, and we have a fantastic week planned at Stevns Folklore Museum! We invite you all to come and take part in our exciting activities and explore our fascinating exhibitions. Here’s what you can expect:

Summer times

Summer has come to Denmark and we have a lot of exciting news for you, so you can have a summer full of good new summer memories.

From 2 July, our opening hours will be:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 11-14

Creative Sundays at Stevns Folklore Museum


Do you need a break during the holidays where you can be creative with the children? So come by the museum on a Sunday in July.

Here, Aleksandra welcomes the museum to cultural and creative days for the little ones.

Take the children or the grandchildren with you and help pass on the legends and myths of Stevn in a fun and interactive way.

It is on Sundays 9, 23 and 30 July, as well as 6 and 13 of August.

Stevns Folklore Museum is open during the winter school holidays and there is something to experience both for adults and for children.
Opening hours:
Sunday, February 19 at 11-14
Monday, February 20 11am-2pm
Thursday, February 23 11am-2pm
Sunday, February 26 11am-2pm
On Sunday 19/2 we will have a nice little canival party. Children in costumes can come in to the museum for free that day and get their faces painted. We hit the cat out of the barrel (Danish tradition) at 11am (0-6 years).
Tickets can be bought online or at the door.

Elverhøj and autumn

‘The magic of the Elf Hill’ and activities in the autumn break

The new exhibition and experience area ‘The magic of Elverhøj’ will open in week 42. The 17 October the long-awaited sensory exhibition will open with a ‘child-friendly exhibition opening’. The exhibition, designed by local designer Cæcilie Telling from Telling Designs will be a call to imagination and will allow anyone who enters to imagine what the inside of the famous Elf Mound looks like. Primarily targetted at children, the experience area will allow children to experience Elverhøj with all the senses – visual, audio and smell. The exhibition and play area was supported by Nordea Fonden and Udvikling Stevns.

In week 42 (autumn break for schools or Stevns) the museum has planned a ton of activities for children and adults:

Mon – ‘kid-friendly opening’ of our exhibition ‘Elverhøj’s magic’. Come and see the museum for free from 12-2pm and get a free cocoa milk to enjoy in our magical garden with giant fish.

Tue-Fri – The museum is open from 11am to 3pm and every day from 11am to 1pm there is a creative workshop which costs a normal entrance ticket to the museum (DKK 50) and includes all materials. Make elf girl jewellery, fairytale dioramas or a stone king figure together with the museum’s talented interns.

For adults there will be a meditative experience in the King’s Hall with Christine Louw’s exhibition ‘Beings from Stevns’. Here the voices and stories of the beings on a loud speaker and see the fantastic photos. Tue-Fri 14-15pm.

This week you can meet us in several exciting places on Stevns!
Friday the 19th August there is By Night in Store Heddinge 5-10 p.m.


Stevns Folklore Museum has an exciting stand in front of our favorite fish shop Fik’ken. Come and have a chat with us and participate in competitions and activities.


Sunday 21 August is Castle Day at Gjorslev Gods from 9.30am – 5.00pm
We are very much looking forward to it and have family-friendly activities for you in the castle park. We are also part of Gjorslev’s historical lectures! Come and join the lecture “Stevns – land of legends”:

All activities are free with the purchase of an entrance ticket to the event.

The museum on Algade 41 is CLOSED on Sunday the 21st. August (we are all at Gjorslev 😃). But will be open again on Monday the 22nd August as usual.

Creatures from Stevns

Get excited!

From the 1st of August, Stevns Folklore Museum will be home to some fantastic creatures. Christine Louw moves in with a special exhibition ‘Creatures from Stevns’ in the King Hall. The exhibition can be enjoyed during the museum’s opening hours.

On 1 August there will be an opening event from 16-18 where it is possible to enjoy a glass of bubbles, a chat with the artist behind the photos and learn about the many magical creatures found on Stevns.

Birthday

Stevns Folklore Museum celebrates birthday

Yay! 🇩🇰 The museum is turning 1 year old! We are having a birthday party and you are invited 🤩🥳

SO what will happen? On 7 July from 15-17 there will be an open house at the museum with birthday cake and a glass of wine in the magical courtyard.

At 16 there will be an exciting lecture: Stevns – the land of folktales by Martin Hyldquist Mosberg.

Come and say hello and see the new exhibition.
